“My name is Timmie Carpenter, I am a black belt under Professor Dylan Spicer at the Academy of Combat Arts in Fargo, ND and I have been training for 16 years.
I started jiu jitsu when I was 15. I was always interested in martial arts doing Tae Kwon Do when I was younger and growing up on power rangers and dragon ball z. I ended up watching a UFC Unleashed where they showed Bj Penn vs Joe Stevenson and I was instantly hooked.
I thought I wanted to be an MMA fighter doing Muay Thai for many years till I realized I was 100 lbs, sparring grown men, and didn’t like getting punched in the face.
I started to solely focus on jiu jitsu after a little break due to blue belt blues, graduating high school, and just trying to figure out life. But I made my way back to the gym and haven’t looked back.
Competing all over the Midwest doing great shows like. Sub Spectrum, Orbit Submission Series, Midwest Finishers, and the Jeff Curran Invitational.
I’ve also been teaching since I was a blue belt and have been enjoying watching myself, my teammates, and friends all grow and push each other to being better and better grapplers!”
